Cambridge Heath Road

The site is located within the Regent’s Canal Conservation Area in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in East London. The scheme proposes nine new residential units with amenity space – in the form of balconies, terraces and winter gardens – placed above a new D1 use training centre at ground floor.

The conservation area is characterised by robust, well detailed, predominantly brick buildings which the proposal seeks to abstract in the provision of a contextual, contemporary architectural intervention. Grounded on observations of the surrounding streetscape and locally listed buildings, a simple but highly articulated brick building is proposed to infill the site. The proposal is to be constructed from a restrained palette of high quality materials, including a bespoke blend of brick and oiled hardwood timber cladding, framing large floor to ceiling glazed openings.
