Kilburn High Road

Claridge Architects were appointed to design a six-storey residential scheme with commercial space at ground floor level to replace an existing natural stone processing factory. The site which has many constraints is accessed from Kilburn High Road and bordered by Kilburn Grange Park.

This new urban block is pushed onto the boundary of Kilburn Grange Park taking full advantage of its setting next to the park while providing a courtyard between itself and the existing properties on Kilburn High Road. Generous balconies or terraces are provided to all 60 apartments which are either south facing or have a view over the park. The courtyard provides further amenity space to both the residents as well as the staff of the commercial space at ground floor level.

The building is predominantly clad in brick in relation to its neighbours and its further surroundings. The top floor is set back from the main urban volume and clad in metal which decreases the scale and provides a visual break.

The scheme received planning approval in October 2015,
