Ian Redfern

Technical Architect

Ian joined Claridge architects in summer 2024 and brings a unique set of skills gained in over 30 years as a professional in the industry to the team at Claridge. 

Having worked in Building Control & Building Surveying, gaining vocational qualifications along the way. He then followed his passion into architecture via the role of Architectural Technician and on to a degree in Architecture at The University of Westminster, followed by a Masters degree at Central St Martins.  

Ian has had the privilege to work on several high-profile projects both at home and internationally as well as over 15 years designing and delivering Social Housing projects in the UK, working at all RIBA stages. 

Additionally, he has over 10 years’ experience of designing and delivering a broad range of building types, including Industrial Waste to Energy Plant, Offices, Hotels, Schools, Private Housing and Retail, including interiors. 

With a passion for sustainability, conservation, design / urban design and construction, he has also gained experience of unique conservation projects gained while working at Julian Harrap Architect, including Brunel’s ss Great Britain and the conservation of the DERA site at Farnborough airport, which included an Airship hangar and wind tunnels where the Spitfire and Concorde were developed.
