Residential development with a thoughtful mix of apartments and family houses.
Claridge Architects has submitted a full planning application for a residential development that comprises nine units. This development encompasses a mix of spacious 2 and 3-bedroom apartments and three family houses, all meticulously designed to meet national space standards. Situated on a prime corner site, the design of this development is a direct response to its immediate environment. This site, currently under-utilized, benefits from excellent access from two sides.
The primary aspiration is to craft a considerate and high-quality development within this largely residential area. By tactfully breaking down the building's massing, we were able to create a block of flats that maximizes the existing footprint, providing an abundance of amenity space for both the flats and houses. The design approach includes the treatment of the facade, incorporating distinctive protruding bays and gable end profiles. These architectural elements seamlessly blend with the local architectural style and context. Complementing this, the chosen material palette comprises red brick and pigmented cast concrete, paying homage to the Victorian character that defines this charming residential neighbourhood.
